FrightFest '07: 1408

1408 is a perfectly competent adaptation of a Stephen King short story - a slick and polished Hollywood ghost story with an implausibly daft ending.

There's nothing else to say about it, really.

The build-up was great. Samuel L. Jackson did a terrific job of selling how terrifying the room was. I was scared as Cusack entered the room... and then... not much. A bit like a Ghost Train.

I agree, the build-up was excellent. Those first 40 something minutes were very good. The rest of the film is your usual fast-paced-action-packed-thriller-hollywood-cliched-over-explanatory-blockbuster-crap. A shame, though.
